2000 Renault Scenic coolant leak

Year: 2000
Variant: 1.6 16v

have just bought this car and was checking the oils,fluids&coolant levels...coolant was non existant so tried to top it up but water was pouring out from what seems to be the bottm left pulley..any ideas as to what the problem might be?

From what you say , sounds like water pump leaking .

If it is water pump leaking it is usually driven by timing belt which should be replaced at same time .Would not advise doing job unless previous experience . But you will have to find out if this is where water leaking from first , hard to say for definite from keyboard .
