1997 Renault Scenic temperature gauge not working and fuel gauge sometimes not working....

temperatue gauge goes up to 1st mark only sometimes, other times it doesn't go up at all...
fuel gauge goes up but then will go bk down again when i know it has diesel in it, only does this when you turn car off and then bk on again, it reads a different amount.

Could be wiring faults , very common .Might also be thermostat stuck open and engine running cool .Could also be temp transmitter . Fuel gauge could be wiring again or tank unit faulty .Could be so many different things with electrical system / wiring on that car .
