2004 Renault Scenic blue smoke

After decelerating or idling as soon as i accelerate away i get clouds of blue smoke from exhaust - length of time varies from a few seconds to longer depending on time spent idling.
Once cleared no more smoke even at speed or hard accelerating. Engine sounds a bit noisy but runs smoothly with no loss of power.
My local garage (not renault)dont think its the turbo (although it very occasionally gives a quiet whine when accelerating). They flushed/changed oil as this was due, and for about 30miles it didnt appear to smoke (unless this was wishfull thinking!)
I've read about the EGR? valve but appart from the smoke, none of the other symptoms associated symptoms seem to fit.
I,m worried about giving it to Renault with a free hand as i cannot afford !
Any advice would be appreciated.

Might be cheaper in the long run to get a diagnostic scan carried out and see what shows .

i had similar problem with my 2004 scenic 1.5dci, have just had egr valve replaced by local garage with a pattern part and it has cured smoke problem and increased mpg to over 65. they also suggested at the time of replacement that if it didnot work to cure smoke that the injectors may be faulty,ie 'pooling' diesel in cylinder during deaccelarating and then pushing access out through exhaust when reaccelarating. hope this helps.

hi thanks for your answers ,ive now given it a oil change and filter and the egr valve was cleaned no it wants to stall on pullaway and knocks when revved when it wants to rev? might get the garage to pick it up.
