started car and it was really noisy and jerking when stationary and as i moved off was still doing this and started to smell like rotten eggs from exhaust then warning light came on the injection light

Hi MandyPandy, This sounds to me like a coils problem it is very common in Renault's around the same age as yours. It is a known problem and Renault are all too familiar with it. Each spark plug has a coil pack attached to it and these can intermittantly become faulty when they do the car will misfire causing it to run rough and become jerky when driving. If left it may affect the cat which is why you are getting the eggy smell. Get down to your local Renault dealer before you damage it further.

Hi, i agree with fluffyduck on this, coils are a very common problem on these cars, however i would not go to a dealer these coils can be purchased a lot cheaper from Andrew Pages, see if you have a branch near you.

Yeah good plan Mr Fixit! i think they are around £40 each from a Renault dealer see what you can get them for.
