2009 Renault Scenic driving fine then suddenly engine cut out , will not restart restart ,

Driving to work fine , then engine suddenly cut out , coasted to stop but waqs unable to restart. 2009 , 1.6 petrol grand scenic. The car has fuel. On ignition tries it sounds like the stater is turning but the engine is not firing. No warnings showing. Suspect Fuel supply (pump/filter) but just want to cover ANY OTHER OBVIOUS FAULTSS FIRST

If you think it's fuel pump , listen when you switch on for a buzz from pump for a second or two . Possibly timing belt ? but many other causes .
