Boot won't open

My boot won't open and my rear wiper doesn't work. There's no unlocking sound when I press the boot release button above the rear number plate. The fuse seems OK. Not sure if there is a relay for the boot locking mechanism.

Could be faulty lock assembly or the wiring at top of tailgate damaged / broken You will need to go through from inside car and release boot , then check for power at wiper motor and boot lock

Thanks, my brother had a look at the locking mechanism. He saw a few split wires at the top of the tailgate so maybe I need new wiring. Thanks for the response ?

The wiring breaking often happens and can usually be repaired . I would start off there first .
