2004 Renault Scenic push start button not starting car

I have a 54 Reg Scenic 1600 16v. It will not start when you insert the card and hit the button. It does make some noise after the button is pushed which sounds like its setting the engine up for starting. If the car is pushed and the button is pushed when the clutch is released it starts and runs fine. The engine can be stopped in the normal way by pushing the button. Starter has been removed and checked - works fine. Engine just will not turn. Have tried jump start - no avail.

have you checked battery connections and engine earth leads is the steering lock releasing ok are there any warning messages displayed on dash?

Try cleaning the card reader inside (sometimes using vac hose / attachment works if fluff or dirt ) and try another card if you have one .Could be either , cards are common fault.

Hi, my Scenic (petrol) wont start. I put the card in, dash lights up, press the button and all there is, is a click from the rear of the car. So, put on charge for the day, tried it later and still just a click at the rear.
Since then the locking in the drivers door has started to click very fast wont stop!!?? HELP!!!
