Ignition switch

2000 Renault Scenic Megan Monaco
Car: Renault Scenic
Year: 2000
Variant: Megan Monaco
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
This sounds costly - I just know it does - My "W" Reg. Renault Scenic Megan Monaco unlocks on the blipper ok and the key turns in the ignition switch ok but there is no "springiness" in the 2nd stage key turn when trying to start the car (and the starter does not operate although the radio lights go out) although it will turn to the 2nd stage position once, I then have to remove the key and turn it again to repeat this. The car will "bump" start ok and drives well with everything apparently working. This is a sudden problem and up until the night before Christmas it worked perfectly with no hint of any problem to come. Any advice would be welcome.

Sounds like a faulty ignition switch , but would try a jump start to see if that helps / eliminates other possible causes .
