2001 Renault Scenic wont start stuck in park

Hello I just cant start my car. It sticks in park. The key turns but the engine wont turn over. This can go on for ages then it will start. I am afraid of flooding the engine. I can not rely on the car to get me to work. Would like some advice?

On some of the Renaults under the plastic cover at gear shift there was a release button with a rubber cover. Pressing this release button usually lets the gear shifter move from its locked/jammed position.

have a look in the hand book it will tell you how to over ride the brake release. most common cause for this it the brake switch. as for the hard starting it could be head gasket. you need to take it to a garage to let them look at it
