Have removed faulty lock & have replacement lock. Cannot engage ball end of bowden cable in exterior door handle mechanism. How to get ball end to fit in handle mechanism without pulling out when operated?

After some time trying to disconnect outer door handle cable, have finally solved it.
Removal of lock
1. Remove door panel:
a. Lift collar & pull off window winder
b. Remove screws: behind cap in door lever recess, in door handle recess, at bottom of door (2 off)
c. Prise door panel away from door carefully at bottom & continue around door
d. Finally lift door panel away at top
2. Prise inner door lever cable moulding from door panel
3. Unscrew door lock screws (3 off) from door edge
4. Remove section of soundproof sheet from upper rear of door
5. Remove lock from door by sliding forwards, over glass channel & out through aperture
6. Disconnect cable from lock by lifting tag on connector & sliding out
7. Remove plastic bung from edge of door above lock aperture & unwind screw inside as far as it will go
8. Pull outer door handle end cap out of door
9. Remove outer door handle by pulling handle outwards until it unclips at back, then pull handle backwards until it unclips at front & withdraw handle
10. Drill out rivet from door panel next to door handle front hole position
11. Remove door handle mount moulding from inside door
12. Disconnect lock cable from door handle mount moulding
Replacing lock
1. Replacement is the reverse of removal except for the following:
a. Fit suitable s/t. screw in rivet hole if cannot replace rivet
b. Outer door handle is fitted in the following way:
i Pull inner door handle cable as far as possible
ii Engage outer door handle at front & insert back into lock
iii Slide white section in mount moulding towards the edge of the door
iv Release inner door handle cable
Note: Handle may not lock in if above not followed
