2001 Renault Laguna loss of power lots of smoke

Car: Renault Laguna
Year: 2001
Variant: 1.9dci
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I have recently replaced the turbo, temp sensor etc and for a short while the car ran fine. There is obvious oil loss although not leaking onto the ground. Now it is again losing power and producing a lot of smoke on starting and also following any acceleration and some gear changes. the engine management light often comes on.
PLEASE help the car will run fine occasionally but seems to be getting worse, the oil loss was an issue before the turbo was changed. Thanks.

HI HAVE YOU TRIED REMOVING THE EGR VALVE AND CLEANEING IT ? IF THE VALVE IS BLOCKED WHICH IS A COMMON PROBLEM IT CAUSES EXCESSIVE SMOKE AND LOSS OF POWER IE LIMP MODE YOU CAN USE WD40 OR SOMETHING SIMILAR TO CLEAN IT YOU CAN FIND IT ON THE RIGHT REAR OF YOUR ENGINE HOPE THIS HELPS !

Hi,

As splea68 says, it is the EGR valve. Having had mine done last August and working in this trade, I know...
The EGR valve and sensor were replaced and the sensor I have now is the now we manufacture in my company.
For the costs of the EGR valve+sensor, I'd rather change it than clean it.
More over mine was that stuck that it had to be torn apart.
It was that dirty anyway that cleaning it wouldn't have done anything.
Very easy to do though. I will try to send pictures if I have time.
