Car: Renault Laguna

Categories: Leaks & Noises
hello my car has a loud humming sound coming from the front end but cant tell if its worse on 1 side or the other, sounds like a bearing but its deffinatly not, theres no change in the sound whether your on a straight road or going round a corner, had the car jacked up and when i turned the wheel on the drivers side there was movement in and out were the driveshaft goes into the gearbox. only had this problem since mot. was doing work for mot and pulled the passanger side driveshaft out and spilt all the gearbox oil, replaced the driveshaft and oil but could it be anything to do with that?? thanks

is your car deisel or petrol and when you split the gearbox did you notice if the drivers side drive shaft went through a engine mount if it did the you want to check it as they are normally held in by 3 bolts as far as i can tell from the hyming it also might be your clutch asembly i have split a gearbox for a renult 51 plate befor i know it the shaft for the drive is not straight this can cause the problem i would have the car check at a garage as there are sevrial posabilitys

If not a wheel bearing , sounds like you have damaged driveshaft bearings pulling out and refitting .
