2001 Renault Laguna code reader code for my laguna

Hi everyone i want to purchase a code reader for my laguna because my car goes into limp mode sometimes. Does anyone know what code my laguna runs off. I have found a code reader to buy but its compatabilty codes are OBD2, EOBD, CAN. Which one of these codes does my car run off and will this diagnostic reader work on my car. I would like to get one to see what is causing this limp mode problem on my laguna. Thanks
