since cold weather spell am being alerted that rear door is open (it's not )and interior lights will not go out,can I reset the door sensors?Have tried disconnecting the battery hoping it would do the trick but it hasn't.

Take it is a rear door and not the tailgate ? On a lot of cars now the sensor is built into the door lock itself .Could check wiring on the b-pillar through door is not broken if not lock .
