2004 Renault Laguna wont start

Thanked 221 Times in 217 Posts It looks like your system is drawing air somewhere and by priming the bulb you are forcing it out albeit it temporarally. It most likely from some of the fuel pipe connections or the fuel filter. Also check all pipes in for signs of wear and abrasion -it only take sthe slightest leak to cause problems on diesels - and there is no guarantee you will actualy see fuel leaking as diesels can draw air into the fuel system with no signs of a leak. When was the fuel filter last changed.

Thanked 221 Times in 217 Posts The fuel and air filter shoud be changed at least every 18,000 miles or sooner in adverse condition such a very wet conditions as diesel fuel tends to be hydroscopic (it attracts water easily) - or worse still in dusty conditions.
Check all the pipe connections are secure and not cracked - including those on the fuel tank sender unit- which are accessable underneath the rear seat by removing the plastic cover. There is also a possibity that some of the non-return valves have become dirty. The last time I heard a similar problem on this forum it was tracked down to a worn through pipe close to the injector rail under the engine cover. Maybe no bad thing to check there first come to think of it

Finally fixed it....replaced fuel bulb....working brilliant now....Many Thanks. It must have became porous as I could see very small air bubbles travelling towards the fuel filter housing. car age is 2002.
