2000 Renault Laguna non starter

intermitent fault, car wont turn over all dash lights on even immobiliser light. Tok key out closed car etc to reset turn key nothing.
Noticed when driving once immobiliser light came on whilst driving flickered then went off.
Have swapped keys with wife ad seems to make no difference.

Sounds like an immobiliser fault, possible the transponder reader around the ignition switch.
