1999 Renault Laguna engine fan/air con problem

Car: Renault Laguna
Year: 1999
Variant: 2.0 RT Hatchback auto
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Hi guys,
great to meet you all....When I put the air con on the engine cooling fan cycles on and off every eight seconds approx...this is with the engine cold after standing all day. Noticed this when checking the air con gas pressure with guage which showed varying from slightly low to normal. Normal when fan off, lower when engine cooling fan cycles on.
Thanks for any help on this.
Best,
Colin.

the ac gas must be low as the evaporator temp sensor must only just record enough cooling so it keeps asking for more cooling, eventially the pressure sensor wont let the compressor clutch cut in. get it recharged and checked for leaks. it is normal to loose a bit of gas each year so it may not have a leak just need a recharge. regards

Thanks Mr Suzuki, I'll get a top up can today and give it a try, it's three years since I last had it done in a garage but it looks easy enough to do myself. Also thanks for the speedy reply. What a brilliant site.
Best,
Colin.

Hi again,
topped up the air con gas so the guage is reading full but surprisingly the engine fan is still cycling every 8 to 10 seconds when air con switched on. The air con is now working very well so any ideas?
Thanks again guys,
Best,
Colin.
