2005 Renault Laguna eccesive fuel usage

Car has 50000 miles, and has been recently service, new air filter fitted and diesel filter. After refueling the car it started giving me 28.2 mpg and it used to give 46 mpg. What could be wrong. Im not a mechanic but can help myself in most cases.

cant be 100% sure but would reccommend having the car checked by a diesel specialists as sounds like your diesel pump is a little out of sink hence the fuel usage and extra comsumption

could it be that the exhaust is broken rear box
