2000 Renault Laguna tailgate wont lock or unlock

my problem is that the tailgate on my estate wont lock or unlock with the central locking. i tried another locking solenoid(which i tested was working) but it doesnt seem to be getting any power to it. also the key barrel just keeps turning so that must be broken too and it is expensive to buy the barrel on its own. can i fix this myself or do i have to take it to an auto electrician to fix this. thanks keith

i suspect the wiring in the tailgate is broken. as for the lock and barrel.. fairly simple to change if you like diy.

As "elannor 67 " suggests , broken tail gate wiring is quite common with this fault . This from another site might help you with lock asssembly .

My keycard needs to be repaired and i have managed to lock all the doors wth the key with the exception of the tailgate.How is this done?(Laguna estate)
