1.9 dci idles normally and revs up normal but drive off and it starts jerking, accelerate and its ok but ease off and it starts jerking again

Could try changing fuel filter as a first step .

I've replaced fuel line from tank to pump including new primer pump and filter housing and filter. Still no joy.

Check . clean MAF sensor or replace if needed

A friend today put his obd 2 code reader on it and it showed p0001, when checked code said it was possibly the volume regulator and engine check light should be lit but I have no lights on dash.

USUALLY should trigger the light , check wiring / plug
