2000 Renault Laguna central locking not working with remote

I have a problem withmy central locking. It works fine from button inside but will not work with the remote key. I have replaced batteries in remote. I have to unlock drivers door manually and ONLY the drivers door gets unlocked. When dooris opened the interior light does not come on although when other doors are opened it does.
Anyone got any ideas please?

Try re-programming the key to the car. Should tell you how to do this in the little owners handbook supplied with the car...
