Not starting unless bump start

2005 Renault Kangoo SL 17 DCI 70 (Van)
Car: Renault Kangoo
Year: 2005
Variant: SL 17 DCI 70 (Van)
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Engine turns over but will not start.
Bump starts ok within a few yards, runs ok until you stop then it wont start again unless bump started.
This problem has got worse recently, as it used to take a long time to start while the engine was cranking. New glow plugs fitted and checked, OK. Loosened injectors to check for fuel while engine cranks, again fuel present seems maybe not enough pressure unless bump started???????
Please help this is driving me nuts!!!!!

sounds like starter motor not engaging properly.when you bump start the car this is only cutting out the starter.check your battery voltage is ok as well

Its not the starter as the engine turns over fine. If you put it in second gear and crank the engine the van jumps forward. Seems to be something more technical.

If your saying it turns over fast enough i would be maybe checking along the lines of a voltage drop somewhere else in the system when your using the starter

Eventually had to go to a diesel specialist. He found that 3 of the four injectors were not functioning properly.

Van is now running sweetly.

Thanks for the suggestions
