2000 Renault Kangoo direction indicators work erratically

when indicators work there is no problem with dimmed or speeded up lights,but occasionally they stop working all together.They eventually come back on. There is no discernable pattern to this occurring it is at random. Warning hazard lights are fine.Has anyone experienced similar problems
