2002 Renault Kangoo drives on 3rd gear only, on selector d light blinking all the time.

Hi, I bought the car with this problem. The owner replaced timing belt. If I need to go up the high hill I can manage by reducing auto selector for lower gear only. The D light on the selector position is blinking all the time as soon as selected. Otherwise no problems. The car shows only 65 000 km and it looks like via history, log etc. so I am happy to get all fixed.

You need to scan it for fault codes .

Gearbox is in "limp home mode",
Same as when there's an engine fault,
And the same as when an engine fault happens the gearbox can be scanned for faults.
The only system that I'm sure will scan it is Renaults Can clip diagnostic system.
So it's main dealer or a Renault specialist will be needed to scan it.
Or if you have a Bosch diagnostic specialist nearby they usually have diagnostic equipment that will "talk" to the gearbox ECU.
