2003 Renault Kangoo loss of power and black smoke

I was driving along and the van lost power dropping to 2500rpm with black smoke coming out of the exhust.took it to a garage and the EGR Valve that i had replaced 2 months ago had broken. any ideas

I would suggest taking the broken unit back to the supplier as there should be some guarantee on it.

If it has been damaged / broken due to incorrect fitting , it wont be covered .

Does that mean that if a garage fitted it, they would be liable?

If incorrectly fitted by garage , they are liable for labour and part if it can be proven .If wrongly fitted by owner , friend or as a homer , you are on the plums .

The EGR valve has been replaced FOC but there is still the problem.
