Missfire with white smoke

2000 Renault Kangoo 1.9 RN diesel
Car: Renault Kangoo
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.9 RN diesel

Can any kind person out there suggest a cause for my car occasionally, when decellerating, misfiring and producing white smoke in the exhaust immediately after. I can feel the braking effect of the misfiring, which is odd because I understood diesels cut off the fuel supply to the injectors in that situation.

It could poss be the coolant temp sensor I had the same problem with my petrol cliosport blowing out white smoke, mis firing, shuddering and cutting out. Mine would especially throw alot of smoke out the back after I pulled off from being at a stand still like in a jam or stopped at the lights. Hope this helps
