Fuel gauge

fuel gauge keeps sticking on the dash if i give it a few taps it will move up to the 1st markin but never any further and it won't drop below there only when ignition is turned off .. any ideas

You will have to see if the needle is sticking or loose connection at rear of dash , but may be a faulty tank / sender unit .

I had a problem with the fuel guage not working on my Kangoo. It turned out to be the blue plastic backgound binding on the needle. Take the instument cluster off. It's not difficult, just a few screws. Take off the clear plastic window. Test the needle for freedom of movement by pushing it carefully up to the full mark. It should return to empty with a smooth damped action. If the needle appears to be touching the background, push down on the blue background near to the centre of the needle. There are little retaining tabs that mine had over-ridden. Might not be that of course, but the easiest thing to check first.

done as u said and its readin the right amount of fuel but i still hav to give it a couple of taps to persuade it, can't see it catching of the background, maybe i'll just hav to live wit it.. thanks for the help
