2004 Renault Espace ignition card door lockng not working

My ignition card has two buttons, one to unlock and the other to lock the doors and set the alarm.
The lock button has suddenly stoped working, so I can't lock the car doors. Nt only that but the spare card has exactly the same problem.
There is no response from the lock button at all, the unlock seems to be fine the mechanism clicks, so it is not the battery in the card.
There seems to be something loose in the card as though a contact has come loose,.
Any ideas to cure it? A replacement card costs £150, ouch!!!!!

You get problems with the soldering inside card . This is the same prob with Renault Laguna , should help you .

yes you can split the card in two and repair them, as i done it with my card, the lock button would not work because the metal button inside the key and become desoldered from the circuit board so i solderded it back on and works fine, better than £100 odd pound for a new key, just have to be carefull when opening it up because you dont wont to damage the circuit board i used a dremel to split it open then just do the repair tidy up the edges and glue the key back together

In terms of taking the card apart using a dremel, did you split it along the join with a cutting wheel?
