2000 Renault Espace petrol wont fill up even though its nearly empty

just bought the espace w reg and tried to put petrol in but it will only take a few pound and thats it the tank isnt full so thats not the problem thanks

try rocking vehicle from side to side

as long as you are certain tank is low.may be a gauge /sender fault meaning you have a lot more fuel than you think...bonus

forgot to mention possible vent fault..vacuum can be created in tank causing it to implode
