1999 Renault Espace wont start when cold

the car started getting harder to start last week now only after about 6 turns of the key will it fire up,but you have to keep the revs up for about 30 seconds or so ,ive cleaned throttle valve and had a new tdc sensor fitted,its okay when warm and has no running problems as such.still wont start when cold,ive been told the coolant temp sensor is giving the wrong info to the ecu,but why would a coolant temp sensor ,help your car start i dont want to be buying things i dont need there are no warning lights on dash,any help appreciated thanks for your time ben.

Very possible it is coolant temp sensor as this sends info to ecu unit re. ammount of fuel needed . I.e when starting from cold , like old cars with chokes , needs richer fuel setting .

fitted new coolant temp sensor and tdc sensor still wont start when cold only when warm

Does it have hydraulic lifters? If so may be sticking due to lack of oil.

dont even know what a hydrolic lifter is ,is it something to do with carburetor/fuel /or electronic thanks
