2006 Renault Espace ref# 17508 headlight flicker

Hi, over the last few days I have noticed that both headlights are flickering every now and then. I have checked that the connection to the bulbs are good and they are, I have checked the fuses and the earth from the battery - all seems ok, I am not getting any error codes coming up.
Does anyone have a glue to what the problem may be.
Whittingehame replied...Might be worth load testing alternator .
I have done a load test - with the engine off and nothing on - I get a reading of 12.0, then when I have the engine running with everything on the reading goes up to 15.1. I am still getting the headlight flickering, the drive itself drives fine. Would you recommend a new battery?

With everything on and charging at 15.1 , far to high .Battery looks like a dud and may have been " cooked " by over charging .Replace battery and then recheck alternator out put .With new , fully charged battery should be a lot lower .If not , alternator probably knackered and will ruin new battery if not replaced.

Hi Whittingehame, thanks again for responding. I did think it was too high, I can't really afford a replacement until the new year - will it be ok to drive or should I just replace it asap.

Battery is low at 12.0 , should be higher .If any dud / weak cells the alternator will be battering it's brains in trying to replace charge .If overcharging it can damage electrics , sometimes blown light bulbs are a first indication.If you get battery tested and it's dud you could get one cheap from scrapyard ? IF battery replaced , the alternator may revert back to normal charge rate , or if faulty , wont .Bad time of the year to get car problems due to expense and possible lack of use .
