Dead dashboard

Dash remains dead when ign on. Everything works on car but no dash indications. Occasionally bursts into life for a few seconds then dies again. Not related to anything obvious such as cold/hot running. All [obvious and visible] connections checked. Any ideas?

Common fault with the instrument cluster , plenty of companies will repair unit .

I had the same problem with my 2003 espace, when i took the dashboard off, i found the wiring cluster for the dash, was not in correct, i pushed it home, an replaced the dash, but when i tightened the two screws down the dash went off, when i loosened the screws the dash came back on. So i put a rubber washer under the dashboard lugs, and ( touch wood ) has cured the problem.
