heater blower starts and runs for about 5 seconds then stops

Can you check the wiring connection to it - it sounds to me like a dodgy connection which when still is making but perhaps due to vibration when running is not making. If you leave it on for a prolonged period of time does it start up again at any stage.

Most likley the motor it requires checking with a volt meter.

^x2 sounds like knackered motor .Some Renaults also suffered from heater wiring loom fault .
