2000 Renault Espace stopped running suddenly

Car: Renault Espace
Year: 2000
Variant: 2.2TDi
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My Espace 2.2TDi 2000 ran fine this morning parked for 20 mins. Then it started without issue and on idle after about 1-2 mins suddenly stopped. The car can be turned over by Key, but does'nt start. Diesel is flowing nicely. It sounds like its misfiring. I have checked the cambelt and it is intact, wondered if it could have jumped a couple of teeth.?? any suggestions??? P.s The AA don't know either!

Could have , but usually an underlying cause like teeth missing on belt / belt slack for whatever reason .

I did check the teeth on the belt and they look intact, although the belt didn't feel tight and it was fairly easy to open the tensioner when the belt was pulled up. Cant really see any thing else or think of any other reason for it.

If the belt wasn't tight it's odds on that it has jumped and timing out .

check that the key that locates the pulley onto the camshalft has not snapped,I advise that you do not run this engine until this is checked if you suspect a timming issue,as damage to valves will occur.
