Heater inside car always blowing cold no matter were its set at but engine fan kicking in after short drives as if it's over heating

make sure that there is plenty of coolant in the radiator and header tank (this might mean loosening any vents that you find in the coolant hoses and the top if the radiator ,also when the fan starts up after short journeys is the air that its blowing hot or cold? if its cold then it may be the thermostat at fault
