The PCM display is blank, in a good light it is possible to faintly see the icons are there, but not clear enough to be able to programme the sat nav.

Hmmm, I've heard of the sound failing on PCM units before but not the screen. Hopefully it's an internal lighting issue, otherwise I think replacement PCM units are about 2 grand. I take it it's PCM 2? (not the one with the cassette).
