2001 Porsche Boxster car cutting out unexpectedly

Car: Porsche Boxster
Year: 2001
Variant: 2.7
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
In heavy traffic the car lost all power, there's no warning, no strange noise nothing. It happened several times in heavy London traffic before I had the car flatbedded to the Porsche Centre. They had the car for 3 days, ran a load of tests and couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Does anyone know what could have caused this. And no it wasn't me stalling it, it happened around 10 times in 15 minutes of driving.

Any ideas?

Could be any number of things - seeing as the car is running ok in between it suggests a problem in the cars electrics/computer. If Porsche can't find the cause then I doubt anyone will.

What about taking it to one of the Porsche specialists?

As you are sat in traffic when this occurs i would suggest it is heat related, maybe affecting a sensor that is starting to fail, IE crank sensor, boxters do have engine bay fans in the rear, can you hear these operating, they are quite apparent when they switch on. You could also go to a dealer as i cannot remember if they have economy mode option which shuts the engine off if you have not moved for a period of time
