i started my van and it is running very lumpy, is is possible for the pump to work on say 1 & 4, and not to work on 2 &3. would i be right in saying if the pump is working its working on all four not just some. i have had new injectors, new egr, new air meter, and she is still runing lumpy. i suspect it is something stupid i have missed. any sugestions please.

check valve clearances
Answered Jun 21, 2011 (12 years ago)
just to recap, some weeks ago the clutch went, i had the van repaired since then she has run badly.someone said it was the EGR valve, so i got a new one. then they said it was the air mass meter, so i got a new one, still no change. so i got a new set of injectors, xcrank pos sensor, coolant temp sensor, still no change. she runs lumpy as if she is on two cylinders, i
cracked the fuel lines today and fuel is there, she has black oily substance in the inlet manifold which concerns me. the question i have is this.
1 after the clutch went surly its inconcievable that the fuel pump has gone aslo, or maybe the throttle position sensor.
2 when i open up the throttle she has very poor response, with full throttle open she acts like half throttle. which kind of points to the fuel pump as the throttle is on the pump body.
3 valve clearance ok.

so any ideas as to which way to go would be great, to have the pump tested will cost over 100£+, so if the pump is the prob, its cheaper to get a replacement.

thanks
