2000 Peugeot Partner faulty rear lights

Car: Peugeot Partner
Year: 2000
Variant: 1.9Dsl
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
Brake light on drivers side ceased to operate. On replacing bulb I found that when lights are turned on and brake is pressed the rear light on drivers side goes out completely and brake light doesn't function at any time. Bulb is perfect and brand new. I dis-assembled light fitting and thoroughly cleaned all contacts etc, but to no avail. Any ideas on what the problem may be and how do I repair it ?

With thanks,
J.J.Crane.

i would say brake light switch could be faulty with you saying no lights working but dont think that because the bulbs are new that they are ok as new parts can still be faulty

generally relates to poor earthing try to identify the earth wire in the light cluster then by using a voltmeter set on a suitable scale put one probe to that wire and the other to a good earth ie the body or a bolt around that area you may have to scratch off a bit of paint to do this then get someone to press the brake with the lights also turned on . the meter should read close to zero as possible if it reads for example 6 volts then that is the volt drop on that wire if so try putting a wire to the cluster and securing it to the bodywork
