Grinding halt

2007 Peugeot Partner LX 800
Car: Peugeot Partner
Year: 2007
Variant: LX 800
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I have a Peugeot Partner LX 800 Diesel van registered in Nov 2007 which I bought 3 months ago with 42,500 miles on the clock. Luckily it has a 6 months warranty from the garage I bought it from however I suspect that the problem will be more expensive than the warranty cover of only £200 parts and labour!
This morning it was “ticking” loudly then very noisily before coming to a sudden halt. It feels like the engine has seized completely. All this happened in the space of about 2 miles / 5 minutes from cold. There is no oil leak and the oil is full.
The engine warning light said STOP and it cut out completely. I can’t get it to the garage before Monday but when I spoke to him he said it may be the fuel injector. Sounded like it was falling to bits!
Has anyone experienced anything similar and what is the likely damage to the engine and my wallet?

It may not be as bad as it seems. The fact that the engine shut down is a safety feature. Without it you may well have been looking at a huge bill. Fingers crossed.

it may just be a fault with the advance solenoid
