is it possible to change the speakers? if so, to what type? would i need garage help or would i be able to change them alone?

Don't see why not . You should contact any local car audio / accessory shops for advice and choice .

fitting speakers is relatively simple task,try and get speakers close to the size of the original ones unless you want to start cutting trims,the wires should clip straight on,terminals might need need changing to fit speakers
