2009 Peugeot 308 fumes in car

When turning on Heater, Fan, Vents we get what smells like exhaust gas in the car interior. Only way we can stop it is to lower the windows and close all vents. Local garage is baffled.

Never worked on that car but common fault on others is crankcase breather / hose or leaking injector seals

Maybe leaking exhaust manifold,black area will be round area,sooty looking.
