2010 Peugeot 308 oxygen sensor faulty

Car: Peugeot 308
Year: 2010
Variant: 308 SW 1.6L Turbo Petrol Auto model
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Our 308 (1.6L turbo) is only 1.5 years old and the oxygen sensor has already failed! Is this normal for such a relatively new car and what causes the oxygen sensor to fail (so soon)?

The car is regularly serviced and we only use 98RON fuel. I'm just concerned that this failure has occured, not to mention the loss of power & throttle response while driving is potentially dangerous!

Look forward to any feedback. Thanks.
