2000 Peugeot 307 boot lock

I have peugeot 307 2.0 xsi and every time someone opened any of the car doors, the boot would pop open as well - even with the engine running it would sometimes just pop open.
I have taken the mechanism to pieces and sprayed WD40 on it, as recommended by a friend. Now the boot will lock but will not open with the boot handle. It will only open by locking and unlocking the car - the boot will then pop open as before.

it sounds like a fault with the micro switch in the boot handle
