2002 Peugeot 307 side light flashing on and off

my wife has just noticed that on our peugeot 307 rappier hdi estate 2002 when the lights are switched off they come on and off while driving along, though they do not do this when the lights are on any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Are they coming on when you brake ?

no it happens under normal driving she took it to the garage we bought it from who tried telling her that they came on automaticaly when it got dark until she pointed out that they dont come on when she drives through the saltash tunnel

If it has auto headlights , could be faulty sensor .Or maybe it needs reconfiguring .
