2001 Peugeot 307 how do i find out if the gearbox is hydraulic or cable gearbox?!?!?

the gearbox is going on my car and im unsure as to what one i actually need as the mechanic has told me that you can get hydraulic or cable gearboxs?? i got a gearbox but it didnt fit as the holes/ positioning didnt match. any help would be fantastic!!!

If its hydraulic you will see a slave cylinder fixed to then front of it! If its a cable operated clutch the cable will run over the top of it and have a release arm on top of box.
