WHEN IN 4TH GEAR CAR IS BEGGING TO BE PUT IN 5TH,THEN WHEN IN 5TH SOUNDS THE SAME LIKE ITS LACKING A 6TH GEAR, HEAVY DRONING SOUND LIKE WHEN YOU DRIVE OVER ROADS WHICH SAY SURFACE NOISE,THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND HAS DONE 18K ANY HELP OR ADVICE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED KIND REGARDS ALAN

Droning noise is usually indicative of wheel bearing noise . If not that , from what you say , could be inside box . Might be worth checking trans . oil level
