Sqealing noise

2002 Peugeot 307 1.6
Car: Peugeot 307
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.6
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
When i turn the steering wheel to the right i get a squealing noise. The steering wheel only has to be turned a bit for it to happen and it doesn't happen all the time. It's not the belt slipping its a rotational noise and sounds like its coming from the wheel.

Can anyone suggest anything it could be?
Thanx

307 has electric pump so doubt its the power steering belt.Check fluid level in the pump.
Clicking noise probably is cv joint

This from Peugeot site confirms "paulieone" re. electric p.a.s pump and suggests a few other possible causes of squeal you could check out .

Ok im pressuming here that you have electric power steering .

I would be looking at alternator pulley! yours i believe should have free wheeling pulley and they can sieze and cause vibration / noise issues! to check it remove belt and alt pulley should spin clockwise and whilst the main shaft in the alt is spinning you should be able to hold still the outer part of the pulley , basically it should move both ways!1

Other poster agrees with possible solutions ,

You're quite right crow,electric.
agree with above checks.
i'd be thinking clutch pulley also.

you may have something catching brake disc may be a pad is rubbing slightly or even a stone could be wedged somewhere
