2004 Peugeot 307 exaust fibre

I was driving on the motorway and lost some power in my engine..the engine diagnostics warning light keeped on flashing ,,i stop and checked the back of the exhaust pipe and some fibre material clogged the pipe.i removed the most and drove home..any info would be great,,thank you .

This would indicate something collapsed inside exhaust assembly and causing blockage , thereby engine power loss .Get it checked in any exhaust centre .

could be either the cat or one of silencers broken up,baffles broken?

I'm sure that fibre glass type of material is only used in silencer boxes and not in the cat. Inside a catalytic converter is a honeycomb metal or ceramic structure that is coated with a precious metal catalyst and doesn't have that type of material , but could be wrong .
