Engine is giving weird, heavy noise when I step on the gas peddle

Car engine started to give heavy, hoarse noise when accelerating. When car is going and I'm not pressing the gas - it's fine. ALso it started to smell when I increases accelerationa and was back fine when I stopped. What can that be?

No, just engine is working differently, much noisier than before while pressing on gas peddle. I'm no speeding or driving quickly, it just the more rpm the heavier engine works. It started yesterday. Timing Belt was changed last year so it shouldn't be it. Any ideas?
